Sept 2004 Sent another cheque to CR(UK) and received a certifcate for over £12,000 raised. Thank you all for you support and sponsorship. This will all go towards saving lives against this nasty illness. I wish you all well and CR(UK) the very best in their research

Dec 2003 Cancer Research UK to release internal press article on the ride and to thank you the sponsors
20/10/2003 Went to Cancer Research UK in Oxford and handed them a cheque for £9,047.87
I had a tour of the local research labs which test and monitors all new treatments, this was great to see but sad how long it can take to test one treatment - around 10 years
Jan 2003 Karen passed away, a adorable lady who will be missed by many
Aug 2002 Had a final fitness test today, seems better 50% overall improvement. Not sure about the fact I had to cycle length of the UK :)

20/04/2002 Informed today that the new TREK 5500 bike will not be ready until the middle of July, as the ride starts on the 24 June TREK are going to try and track one down.
17-19/04/2002 ill all training stopped
13/04/2002 Had a test ride on TREK 5200 bike today and found it very responsive, sounds silly as one is the power of the bike, compared to my current bike. The ride was also smoother compare to my bike. Once I have the new bike a test ride of 100 miles will be done.

02/04/2002 My fitness test today, seemed to be about 10% overall improvement. hmmmm
24/03/2002 Went for a 26+ mile hill bike ride to test knee, all seems OK. Had another check-up and the diagnose was that my knee was not recovering faster enough.
I was OK to run but short distances until the knee got used to the impact
23/03/2002 The Entertainment Network has agreed to match money raised by staff up to £2,000
21/03/2002 Knee seems OK, training continued
20/03/2002 Went out to check my running technique, all seemed OK, after 2 miles my knee started to give way again, could walk but very painful when running, OK to continue training if all is OK tomorrow
19/03/2002 Had a physical test for training, all OK - training can continue
12/03/2002 Had check up by Kevin (from PersonalBest training)
The results weren't good, serious training was put on hold, upper body training was OK to do at low reps and a low weight. Core strength work was put on hold, and I could only cycle for a short time at the easiest setting and no more than 10mph. This was just to keep the legs moving ready for training to continue
11/03/2002 After an evenings standard training all seemed OK until the next morning, my hip and upper leg would really hurt if moved
05/02/2002 Run around 3.5 mile lake, near the 3 mile my knee gave up. Monday's training is out. Rachel (Personal trainer) put a stop on running for the moment
